Service - Giving back to others

To live with a generous heart, seeking to give back to others as a priority in life is a key guiding principle of our New Zealand UWC. We will strive to develop this throughout our college programmes and within the culture of our college community.

As part of this focus, our New Zealand UWC will run a number of special programmes designed to contribute to the community in which it lives.

Our students will, on average, each commit 10 hours per week within these activities. For a college of 240 students, this amounts to the equivalent of 60 fulltime workers and represents a substantial resource of motivated and talented young people.

Some of the programmes our NZ UWC will focus on include:

  • Educational enrichment for New Zealand’s youth.
  • Environmental action
  • Helping the community

For more information on these, see the sections below.

In this section:

> Educational enrichment

UWC outreach programmes will offer substantial benefits to New Zealand's schools and students.

> Environmental action

The beautiful location surrounded by wilderness and on the edge of a World Heritage Area gives great opportunity for environmental programmes. See here for details.

> Helping the community

A range of social initiatives would help support the local community. See here for more.
