Campus New Zealand

While our core UWC facilities will be located in a particular location (in the Wakatipu basin near Queenstwon), our ‘wider campus’ will extend to include New Zealand as a whole.

Our UWC will engage with places of business, learning, culture and social development across New Zealand.

This will be achieved by placing students in research work, internship and other programmes throughout the country.  Students will be assigned to challenging roles, that complement their studies or interests, with organisations and institutions that partner with our UWC for this purpose.

In addition, we will bring people from all parts of New Zealand society to our UWC.  Programmes for young people and organisations from around New Zealand will be run by our students at our UWC, providing opportunities for more New Zealanders to interact with talented young people from around the world in an amazing setting.

Partners will include universities, Crown Research Institutes, Government, NGOs, corporate and voluntary organisations covering the arts, youth development, research, business, humanities, and sport.

We also intend to make our campus and its buildings architecturally iconic – giving vision to the majestic surroundings in which we hope to locate it.  It will be a place visitors to NZ will want to see in its own right.  It will also be a natural place to bring people together for international conferences and cultural exchange.

The aim of our ‘Campus NZ’ approach is to:

  • Extend and enrich our students’ experience in challenging real-life roles

  • Strengthen our students’ understanding of all aspects of New Zealand society

  • Provide greater opportunities for New Zealanders from all walks of life to work and interact with talented young people from around the globe

  • Ensure that our UWC makes a meaningful contribution to New Zealand.
