Helping the Community

A range of community service projects could benefit the local community.

Elderly Support

Students help to give life to the elderlyThe place of the elderly in modern society is increasingly vulnerable and this is particularly so in the Wakatipu. There is significant opportunity for United World College students to contribute service in this area.

Mentorship

In these programmes, local students are identified on a needs basis and are matched in a formal student-student mentor programme. Needs may vary from academic enrichment, to social issues or to drug and alcohol abuse.

Buddy Programme

Buddy Programmes have a BIG positive benefit for young peoplePearson UWC is developing a strong relationship with the Big Brothers of Greater Vancouver programme that supports 25,000 children in mentoring relationships. Similar support relationships can be developed with our regional Big Brother programme to enhance the resiliency and well-being of children who could benefit from involvement in a quality prevention-focused mentoring programme.
